Spell Bee Award ceremony 2025-26
The award ceremony of the St Mary’s Spell Bee competition was held on January 30, 2026, in the school auditorium. The program commenced at 8:40 with a prayer song led by the students’ choir, in the presence of the dignitaries; the president of the function, Correspondent – Very Rev Fr Charles Menezes, chief guest – Ms Deepa Bhandary, former Vice Principal of St Mary’s English Medium School, Udupi, Principal – Rev Fr Vijay Joyson D’Souza, and Vice Principal – Madam Rita Quadros. The event was compered by Astrida and Ayush, students of grade 7, and Vaishnavi and Ayan of grade 6 formally welcomed the gathering.
To showcase the energy and the competitive environment of the Spell Bee competition, Ms Usha and Ms Cybil, our teachers, and the Spell Bee champions of grades 1 to 4 gave a demonstration of a round of the competition to the audience which was comprised of students, parents, and teachers. This was followed by a portion where Thanvi of grade 8, one of the Spell Bee victors spoke about here experience of the competition, and gave her fellow students insights on how to face it the following academic year.
The following segment of the event included giving away of the awards to the Spell Bee champions from grade 1 to 12. The winners were accompanied by their parents on stage, where they received their prizes from the guests. Then, the teachers in charge of the St Mary’s Spell Bee were also felicitated. Ms Sageera Banu, parent of Hajrah of grade 10, one of the Spell Bee winners, shared her views with the audience as well. She spoke about the hard work that children to put in to participate and win in various competitions.
The chief guest, Ms Deepa Bhandary was felicitated for her accomplishments and contribution to the school as a former employee. This was followed her address and the correspondent’s, where both speakers focused on the need to constantly work on reading speaking, and writing skills. They emphasized the importance of mastering the language and how that makes it easy for us to become adjustable globally. The vote of thanks was delivered by Charitha of grade 8, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, the teachers in charge of organizing Spell Bee in the school, parents, staff, and students.
